The Shop of Curiosity

ActionSpace aims to make a professional career in the arts a realistic option for artists with learning disabilities who have the talent and ambition to pursue this.
It was launched in the 1960s and established as an independent charity in 1984 reached the status of a sector leader within the UK, recognised by Arts Council England in their 2015-18 National Portfolio Organisation (NPO) funding round.
ActionSpace work with high profile cultural organisations such as the Royal Academy, Camden Arts Centre, the Museum of Everything, Outside In/Pallant House Gallery and the National Portrait Gallery has helped to establish a place for artists with learning disabilities in the contemporary arts sector.
Artists work across 9 Studio Projects across 3 Studios in North London, South London and East London. The Cockpit Friday Studio Project presents the Shop of Curiosity; an exhibition presented by 15 ActionSpace artists which invites viewers into a shop like no other, offering a multimedia, multi-sensory experience that will transport them into a world of curiosities, intrigue and discovery.
The exhibition will be hosted at The Geddes Gallery; a pop up gallery located in a building that was previously an Italian deli. During opening hours, artists will become shopkeepers, welcoming in the curious to browse fascinating trinkets and objects.
