The Knowledge Quarter’s Second Diversity Roundtable
On the 25th October 2018 Knowledge Quarter partners once again convened to discuss the topic of ‘staff diversity’ and share current practice in this area.
The roundtable started with an introduction from Julie Alland, HR Consultant at the Alan Turing Institute, explaining their current measures relating to staff diversity including their role as an Athena SWAN member. Gill Thomas, Senior Manager of Diversity and Inclusion at the Royal Academy of Engineering, then presented their Diversity and Inclusion toolkit, Inclusive Recruitment Toolkit and summarised key research the Academy have undertaken in regards to Diversity and Inclusion.
Sharing of best practice was a theme of the roundtable with presentations from Wellcome, The Institute of Physics and The Place relating to the theme of Staff Diversity – in particular EDI Networks.
Discussions then occurred focused on Gender Diversity in Regards to Events, Supporting Neurodiverse Staff and Mechanisms for receiving feedback on Diversity and Inclusion respectively.
A full write up of the event can be found here – to request presentations from the day please email kacie.shoulders@bl.uk.
