From the world’s new AI hub
The Knowledge Quarter is now home to the most significant AI companies in the world.
Last month, Anthropic and OpenAI signed leases to move thousands of talented employees to the neighbourhood, joining Google DeepMind, The Alan Turing Institute, and top British AI start-ups Synthesia, Wayve, and more.
“This cluster didn’t emerge from a planning document,” explains Geraint Rees, UCL vice-provost, in Wired UK. “It grew because serious researchers and companies understand that proximity isn’t a nice-to-have… That’s how the innovation system actually works. It’s not a clean, linear transfer from lab to market. It’s messier, richer, more human than that.”
Learn how AI is transforming London’s built environment and transport system in our last two Future London events this May.
And don’t forget to save the date for our two morning private views this summer: the Postal Museum‘s newest exhibition, ‘The Jolly Postman’, and WM College‘s summer student exhibition.
