Two Knowledge Quarter Members Secure Government Infrastructure Funding

APRIL 15, 2026 / IN NEWS, PARTNER NEWS / BY LUCY YOUNG

Two Knowledge Quarter member organisations have been awarded infrastructure investments from the government’s £127.8 million Arts Everywhere Fund, supported by the Department for Culture, Media and Sport, in a significant boost for culture and community life in the district.

The Place

The Place, the King’s Cross-based dance hub, has been awarded £660,000 through the Creative Foundations Fund (CFF). The CFF has allocated £96 million across 74 arts and cultural venues nationwide to address urgent infrastructure needs in theatres, performing arts spaces, galleries and grassroots music venues. The investment will help secure The Place’s future as a vital centre for dance, offering classes, professional support for dancers, and live events for audiences of all ages.

The timing aligns with the upcoming premiere of RONiN, a bold new production combining dance, swordplay, and cutting-edge digital projections, with performances on 17th and 18th April. Created by award-winning choreographer Yukiko Masui and digital artist Barret Hodgson, and produced by The Place, RONiN tells the story of a fearless woman swordfighter navigating honour, resilience and survival in a male-dominated world.

London Borough of Camden

London’s Borough of Camden has been awarded £149,655 through the Libraries Improvement Fund – part of a £6.3 million commitment to 28 library services across England to upgrade buildings and technology in service of their communities. Camden intends to direct this investment towards its twelve libraries, including in support of the British Library, one of the world’s great knowledge institutions and a founding Knowledge Quarter member, ensuring they remain places to meet, study, connect and discover, inspiring curiosity across all ages and backgrounds.

The awards form part of a broader government commitment, with the Culture Secretary pledging up to £1.5 billion to the cultural sector over this parliament. The Arts Everywhere Fund aims to save more than 1,000 cherished arts venues, museums, libraries and heritage buildings across England.

Congratulations to The Place and London Borough of Camden on this richly deserved recognition!
