Course for Tour Guiding in Camden recruiting now!
Camden Tour Guides Association are now accepting applications for their 2018/19 course which runs on Wednesday evenings from September to May with additional Saturday practical sessions.
Learn guiding skills complemented with knowledge about the history, architecture, people and tourist attractions in the borough.
Course Details
The course is limited to a maximum of 20 students.
The number of sessions will be confirmed to applicants at interview stage but they anticipate running about 30 Wednesday evening classroom based sessions which will consist of lectures, group-work and group discussions, case studies and student presentations. These will take place each week from September 2018 to May 2019 at a location in central London. There will also be approximately 15 Saturday half day sessions, scheduled on alternate weeks.
You will be required to submit a satisfactory written project, pass a written exam and pass two practical exams. One practical exam takes place at an internal site (this year hosted by The Foundling Museum) and one on the streets of Camden. The two examinations will take place between January and late May/early June.
Upon successful completion of the course, you will be awarded a badge from the Camden Tour Guides Association. This will recognise your achievement as a qualified guide in the Borough of Camden. Graduates are normally presented with their badges by the Mayor of Camden in the Mayor’s parlour at the Town Hall.
