Around the KQ in 50 Objects

A callout for interesting objects across the KQ.

As lockdown is easing but our buildings are still in the process of opening, we’ve thought of a new series to encourage our partners get to know each other a little better. We would like as many KQ organisations as possible to produce a 5 minute video about an object, (think sculpture, syringe, photograph, pen, microscope, auto-icon etc.) within your organisation that has an interesting story behind it. Whilst our private views enable us to explore the exhibitions on offer in the mile radius, this series would shine a light on some of the archived material at our partners who perhaps don’t have exhibition space or events to showcase their records.

We would love these to be as varied as possible, so have a think about what object might be best and who would be able to tell its story. And once you’ve got something in mind, fill in this form to let us know your idea.

In terms of content, each partner should prepare a digital file presenting the object. This can be of any of the following formats:

  • a professional video showing the object in situ (if you have permission to enter your buildings)
  • obtaining an image of the object (or several images) and record a video or audio message to accompany this. These can then be put together using very simple editing software – or through a Zoom meeting with a KQ team member.

When we’ve received the digital files, we will be using them to share via the KQ social media and for a series of virtual events. These events will take place August – December 2020 and will showcase 5-6 of these videos each, complete with a Q&A from the object experts for audiences to learn more.

Again, here’s the link for the form to send us your idea. If you have any further questions, please get in contact with Jemima.
