Jasbir Sondhi is Vice Principal at Westminster Kingsway College (WKC).  She has worked in further education for over 20 years and is committed to ensuring that every individual has the opportunity to access high quality learning opportunities that lead to success for both individuals and communities. 

Jasbir studied A-Levels at her local FE college and after finishing university returned to work there as a Community Development Officer. The FE sector has provided Jasbir with a plethora of opportunities and she wanted to ensure that learners studying in the sector were given access to similar opportunities that allowed them to progress. 

At City of Wolverhampton College her work contributed towards addressing the learning and skills needs as identified in Wolverhampton’s Economic Development Plan. She was responsible for the development and implementation of the Local Learning Plan. Through her work she introduced strategies for reducing barriers to learning and improved access to regeneration initiatives through collaborative and responsive provision. 

At WKC she has been instrumental in developing strong strategic alignment between curriculum and careers education.  Shortly after starting at WKC she led on the design and implementation of a new Careers Education Information Advice & Guidance offer to meet the needs of a changing curriculum offer and student need. The team led by Jasbir were the first ever college to win an award at the Careers and Enterprise Company’s annual awards. 

Vulnerable learners and those with complex needs are at the forefront of planning. WKC has established a very thorough programme with impressive relationships with employers, these partnerships provide a wide range of employability support for our students, including work experience, work placements, Internship, mock interviews, assessment centres, support with applications and CVs, and mentoring schemes. 

Throughout her career she has worked hard to break down barriers to entry and progression and continues to be passionate about driving change.
