Reformation: Shattered World, New Beginnings

Come along to a unique event to explore the impact of the Reformation on English literature on Tuesday, 27 June hosted by the Friends of Senate House Library, School of Advanced Study, University of London. Professor of Renaissance studies Tom Healy, will lead with the support of famous actors Joanna David, Nickolas Grace and David Robb, who will perform verses from a wide range of poets and authors of the period.

Joanna David is an acclaimed actor known for her television and film work. She appeared in The Last of the Mohicans and has had parts in many popular TV series including Sense and Sensibility, War and Peace, Inspector Morse and Midsomer Murders. She is vice president of the Theatrical Guild.

Nikolas Grace played Hamlet for the Derby Playhouse opening, and has appeared in many West End plays including Amadeus, Richard 11, Candide, Chariots of Fire and Sunday in the Park. He played Blanche in Brideshead Revisited, Harry in Heat and Dust, the sheriff in Robin of Sherwood and Oscar Wilde in Salome’s Last Dance. He is a fellow of the Royal Central School and a Companion of LIPA.

David Robb has starred in various British films and television shows including the BBC’s award-winning Downton Abbey series in which he played Dr Clarkson, Wolf Hall and Sharpe. He has also performed as a voice actor for several Star Wars video games and has worked extensively on a range of BBC radio dramas.

Guests will also be able to view the University of London’s second major exhibition, Reformation: Shattered World, New Beginnings, which includes installations and rare texts. The event will last approximately one hour, and concludes with a wine reception with Professor Healy and the performers.
