The Creative and Digital Academy hub is part of the Mayor of London’s Skills Academies initiative, which aims to promote the long-term economic growth of the city by providing opportunities for Londoners to kickstart their careers in the creative, digital, green, and hospitality industries.
In this session, the Creative and Digital Hub leads will host a panel discussion featuring industry experts and learners who have completed the Academy’s training programs. The focus of the discussion will be on the evolving needs of the workforce and how businesses can support communities to thrive. Through this conversation, participants will gain valuable insights, as well as strategies for building a strong and sustainable workforce.
CARLO LIU, Head of Digital Skills Academy, Westminster Kingsway College.
Carlo has come from the adverting and marketing sector before moving into education. Since then, she has led on Careers Education and Employer Partnerships for Westminster Kingsway College.
Carlo is part of the strategic team leading on the Mayor of London’s Academy hubs; Digital Skills, London Recovery Plan, Sector Skills and Mentoring initiatives across Capital City College Group.
In her current role as Head of Digital Skills Academy, Carlo works towards empowering Londoners to gain digital skills and secure good work in the tech and media sector.
SHARON WALLACE, Head of Creative Industries Academy, Capital City College Group
Sharon is a former journalist, and the Director and co-founder of ‘Family Focus’ magazine, a news, activity and events publication with a print circulation of over 25,000. She is an entrepreneur, having developed start-ups individually and with others in media production, fashion and education services.
In the education sector, Sharon has developed new curricula, as well as managing certified qualifications for a range of examination boards.
In her current role as Creative Hub lead, Sharon designs and produces short courses to train Londoners for job roles in the creative industries. She works with industry employers, local authorities and community organisations to promote the opportunities and develop routes into work in this vibrant and broad sector.
