SUMMARY:Constructing Change: Planning For Climate and Communities at London Climate Action Week 2025
DESCRIPTION:Hosted by Knowledge Quarter and Somers Town Community Association\, this event explores how retrofitting\, low-carbon design\, and community-led planning can drive sustainable\, equitable development – prioritising repair over replacement and putting people at the heart of change.\n  \nIn a city defined by constant redevelopment\, what does it really mean to live in a growing London\, especially in the Knowledge Quarter? As the built environment expands and London works towards net zero\, emissions and air pollution from construction continue to increase\, with significant consequences for local people. \nThis event challenges the narrative of growth. What if growth meant repairing instead of replacing\, working with what we already have\, and putting communities at the centre of change? \nWe’ll explore how retrofitting\, low-carbon design\, and care-centred planning can drive both climate action and social equity. These solutions aren’t without challenges; retrofitting complex buildings\, shifting mindsets\, and meaningfully involving communities in technical processes\, demand time\, trust\, and collaboration. But through co-design\, education\, and inclusive decision-making\, we can empower communities and residents to have a greater say in the future of their neighbourhoods\, London and the planet. \nJoin spatial practitioners\, developers\, and community organisers as we discuss what sustainable\, equitable development looks like\, and how we can build it together. \nEvent Details\n\nDate: Wednesday June 25\nLocation: Impact Hub London Euston\, 1 Triton Square\, London NW1 3DS\nTime: 09:30 – 12:00 PM\n\nWe will be joined by the exhibition curator\, who will deliver opening remarks and a guided tour through the gallery space. \nFor any enquiries\, please contact events@knowledgequarter.london. \nRSVP here

SUMMARY:Future London: Technology & Sustainability
DESCRIPTION:Future London: Technology & Sustainability will explore how environmental change is experienced by people who live and work in London boroughs like Camden and Islington\, and how technology is being used to tackle emerging sustainability challenges in the City and beyond. \nWe’ll ask some straightforward but important questions: What is the true cost of a rapidly evolving tech sector\, for both Londoners and the planet? As digital infrastructure expands\, what do leaders need to do to make sure technology works for people and the environment\, not against them? The discussion will also put London’s cleantech sector under the spotlight: can innovation meaningfully reduce carbon emissions\, or are we still making only incremental progress? \nWe’ll look at how digital tools\, data\, and emerging technologies are supporting local solutions\, from monitoring air quality and energy performance to improving transport\, public spaces\, and community services. \nPart of Future London\, a Spring 2026 public discussion series brought to you by the Knowledge Quarter and The London Society\, the event brings together voices from across the environmental and community sectors alongside Londoners with a stake in the city’s future. \nThrough open discussion and debate\, it offers a space to question assumptions\, explore opportunities and put local people at the heart of how London’s cultural life evolves in the years ahead. \nRSVP here\nTickets cost £9.60\, but Knowledge Quarter members go free. \nPanel Discussion | Is the technological future we are looking for materially sustainable?\nAs new technologies transform how we produce\, use\, and manage materials\, one question arises: Are these innovations helping us build a truly sustainable future\, or are we creating new challenges along the way? This panel brings together sustainability experts and technologists to explore both the opportunities and the trade-offs. \nSpeakers Confirmed\nAiden O’Sullivan | Associate Professor in Energy and Artificial Intelligence at UCL Energy Institute \nProf. Adam Sobey | Mission Director for Sustainability at Alan Turing Institute \nSandy Tung | Principal Policy Officer\, Technology & Innovation at Greater London Authority (GLA) \nGeorgia Elliott-Smith | Director of Sustainability at Elliott Wood \nThea Sherer | Director of Sustainability at Springer Nature [moderator] \nKey Details\n\nDate: Tuesday 24 March\nTime: 17:30 – 19:30\nLocation: Impact Hub London\, 1 Triton Square\, NW1 3DX\n\nNearest Tube Stations: Warren Street and Great Portland Street. \nRSVP here\nTickets cost £9.60\, but Knowledge Quarter members go free.

SUMMARY:Future London: Technology & Health
DESCRIPTION:The Knowledge Quarter and London Society presents Future London\, a new public series exploring the forces shaping London’s future – and the choices the city must make to get there.\nFuture London continues with a conversation on how emerging technologies are reshaping the discovery and delivery of healthcare in the city. \nLondon’s hospitals\, labs\, and research centres are increasingly adopting digital tools – and technology is transforming how healthcare is discovered\, delivered\, and experienced. From AI-driven drug development to advances in medical devices and data-informed patient care\, the next generation of health solutions is emerging in real time. \nBut could technology finally reinvent healthcare in London\, or will it mostly tinker at the edges? What breakthroughs will actually reach patients – and is the city ready for a health revolution? \nPANEL DISCUSSION: What Does the Future of Tech-Enabled Healthcare Look Like in London? \nKey Details\nDate: Tuesday 21 April\nTime: 17:30 – 19:30\nLocation: Impact Hub London\, 1 Triton Square\, NW1 3DX \nNearest Tube Stations: Warren Street and Great Portland Street. \nPart of Future London\, a Spring 2026 series brought to you by the Knowledge Quarter and The London Society\, the event brings together voices from across the health and technology sectors alongside Londoners with a stake in the city’s future. \nThrough open discussion and debate\, it offers a space to question assumptions\, explore opportunities and put local people at the heart of how London’s health innovation evolves. \nFind out more about the series here. \nRSVP Here\nTickets cost £9.60\, but Knowledge Quarter members go free.

SUMMARY:The TechBio Shift: Powering the Next Era of Life Sciences in London
DESCRIPTION:The TechBio Shift: Powering the Next Era of Life Sciences in London\, co‑hosted by The Knowledge Quarter and Venture Café London\, is a focused showcase of the latest scientific and technological advances emerging from the UK’s TechBio community.\n  \n\n\nThe UK’s TechBio sector is buzzing.\nBiology and human health today are shaped as much by computation and engineering as by the lab bench. \nWhile biotechnology has long focused on harnessing biological systems to create products and therapies\, TechBio takes a different route: bringing computational modelling\, AI and engineering principles directly into the heart of experimental biology. \nThat blend is helping teams uncover insights that traditional trial‑and‑error approaches would have taken far longer to reach\, and it’s already influencing how we understand disease\, identify promising treatments and accelerate drug discovery. \nAt The TechBio Shift: Powering the Next Era of Life Sciences in London\, you’ll hear from experts on stage and meet just as many in the room\, with researchers\, founders\, investors\, and operators coming together to share what they’re working on\, compare perspectives\, and connect as peers. It’s a space designed for discovery\, conversation\, and meaningful networking as the field continues to evolve. \nKey Details\n\nDate: Thursday 23 April\nTime: 18:00 – 21:00\nLocation: One Triton Square\, London NW1 3BF\n\nIf you have any questions\, please email events@knowledgequarter.london. \nRSVP here
