Somers Town Community Association announce Young Womens Project funded by Big Lottery

Somers Town Community Association is celebrating after securing three years funding from the Big Lottery Fund to support dedicated work with girls and young women in the South Camden Area.

Their new project aims to improve the employability, social and cultural opportunities for excluded girls and young women.

Awareness raising activities will be delivered in schools, housing estates and in other projects and the organisation will have a focus on hard to reach groups. Activities will be planned and led by young women and will include volunteering and work placements, employability workshops, youth leadership courses, leading community events and film making.

As lead partners Somers Town Community Association is working with Somers Town Youth Club, Surma Centre and Corams Fields to form this new project which will be delivered from a number of different sites by a  team led by an experienced senior youth worker whom they are currently recruiting.
