Volunteer opportunity on Birkbeck's ethics committee
Birkbeck, University of London are looking to recruit a volunteer to act as a lay member on their ethics committee. The role of the College Ethics Committee is to consider the ethical ramifications of certain college activities (primarily research projects), to oversee the activities of the five School Ethics Committees and to promote a culture of research integrity and good ethical practice in academic research.
Victorian Blogging – The Pamphleteers Who Dared to Dream of a Better World
Knowledge Quarter partner Conway Hall is pleased to announce that it has received £88,000 from the Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF) for an exciting project, Victorian Blogging – The Pamphleteers Who Dared to Dream of a Better World. The project will digitise and open online access to over 1300 19th century pamphlets, many of which are extremely rare.
Arts Catalyst - Instagram Artist-In-Residence opportunity
Knowledge Quarter partner Arts Catalyst is pleased to announce a new digital residency initiative for an Instagram artist-in-residence, the first of what is hoped will become a recurring programme of digital take-overs. From the 10th to the 30th of October 2017 there are looking for a contemporary artist interested in exploring the interrelationships between art, science and technology, to takeover the Arts Catalyst Instagram account.
Wellcome Trust is giving £13 million to UK science centres for public engagement
Knowledge Quarter partner Wellcome is giving £13 million in funding to five science centres around the UK to encourage new and different ideas that will help to make science more accessible. The funding has been awarded through the Inspiring Science Fund.
San Diego Delegation Visit to London
Kevin Faulconer, mayor of San Diego, will be leading a high-level trade delegation to London and Cambridge from October 17th-18th. As two of the world’s leading knowledge hubs, the San Diego and London/Cambridge regions possess highly innovative economies, with strong potential for partnerships and global trade. The goal of this mission to build on deep, pre-existing relationships between the two metro areas, more specifically in the industries of smart cities technologies and life sciences.

Knowledge Quarter: Report of the Public Realm Charrette
The Knowledge Quarter is pleased to announce the release of the Public Realm Charrette report. Following the audits in Spring 2016 which looked at the quality of the public realm of all the streets and roads in the Knowledge Quarter area, two streets, Phoenix Road and Randell’s Road, were chosen as the subject of two charrettes which were held on the 20th and 21st September 2016.
