King’s Cross Musician in Residence

Thanks to a partnership between Knowledge Quarter’s partner, PRS for Music Foundation (based in Pancras Square) and King’s Cross, local residents, businesses and schools across N1C are currently voting to decide which of three exciting musicians – Evelyn Glennie, Speech Debelle or Adem Ilhan – will have the opportunity to become the King’s Cross Musician in Residence over the next 6 months.

If you live, work or study in the area, please take a moment to watch the short videos and vote for the music creator and project that interests you the most via the King’s Cross website here. Votes are restricted to people living/working/learning in N1C. The selection is being made via a local vote because PRS Foundation and Kings Cross want the music creator to be selected by the people who will benefit from and be interested in taking part in this unique initiative.

Voting will close on 6 June. You can then follow news and details of how you can take part in the residency activities  on social media @prsfoundation @kingscrossn1c and via the Kings Cross Ebulletin.

The chosen music creator will work with the communities of King’s Cross, the companies, educational institutions and people who live and work in the area, with the aim of creating a piece that will involve and resonate with them. During the residency the music creator will immerse themselves in, and respond to, the unique and continually evolving King’s Cross site, past and present. This will involve meeting people, visiting organisations and groups and sharing experiences through discussions, media, blogs, informal performances, workshops, public discussions and events. The residency will run from June to November, culminating in a live performance.
