YAMI-ICHI (‘Black Market’ in Japanese) 26 – 29 May 2017

26 05 2017 - 29 05 2017

YAMI-ICHI (‘Black Market’) is an international event that replicates an art auction and employs non-monetary form of exchange. The concept behind this project is to engage a number of young and emerging artists with the general public/local & business communities. YAMI-ICHI aims to challenge a perception of art as a commodity in the current art market. Ultimately, the project aims to encourage young and emerging artists to re-evaluate how their work can be perceived and connect them with potential clients or future collaborators.

We held our debut event in Japan in March, which attracted over 700 people over three days. Our second event in London is going to be held between 26th and 29th of May. This event is supported by Camden Council, and the venue is one of Council-owned vacant shop (5 Hampden Close, Kings Cross).

Come and meet our amazing young and emerging artists, and exchange your skills, services or goods with your favourite artworks in our non-monetary art auction!

*For the auction, please book a free ticket in advance through Eventbrite.
