National Coding Week: FutureLearn’s coding class for adults (beginners)

18 09 2017 @ 6:00 pm - 8:30 pm

- Free

FutureLearn, the leading social learning platform, is delighted to support National Coding Week’s goal to give adults the opportunity to learn some digital skills with a beginners coding class for adults.

Who should come?

This evening class is aimed at adults who are complete beginners to coding; no experience is required. With an emphasis on giving practical coding experience, the session will be focused on getting you to code right there and then with the goal being to produce your own webpage by the end of the two hour session.

What to expect?

Expect a highly interactive session with group and individual work, as well as plenty of coding pros on hand for advice and help on following all steps throughout the two hour session. First, you’ll get to see the code behind your favourite websites and understand how that code can be manipulated. Then you’ll be introduced to CodePen, shown how to fork a project, and go on to creating your own webpage using HTML and CSS.

Logistics:

  • Places are free but limited to 40 attendees and allocated on a first-come, first-served basis.
  • Arrive: 6pm for a prompt start at 6.30pm and the session will finish by 8.30pm.
  • Please note: you will need to bring your own laptops to the session and sign up to CodePen prior to the evening in order to make the most of the time on the night.
